Bee and Honey Festival

On Saturday, August 18, 2018 we had the amazing opportunity to be part of Yankee Candle's Bee & Honey Day. Walking into the building and seeing the sign that read "Luke's Bees: Local Beekeeper" made it all surreal. As our first public event we weren't sure what to expect but luckily we had lots of help from family and friends that supported us and helped make the event a successful one!

We got to talk to many locals as well as people visiting from all over the country, like Chicago and Texas, who were all fascinated by our display of the different stages of wax rendering (displayed as wax discs and bars), comb, and our unique one-of-a-kind propolis marbles. For sale, we had 1-lb, 2-lb, and 5-lb jars of honey, as well as jar with comb honey inside which we did not anticipate on being such a huge seller.

This day was a great day to teach the public about the importance of bees and their affect on the environment, as well as the benefits of using local honey as a treatment allergies. Many people had questions, and we provided as many answers as we could! It was also a good learning opportunity for us— we also learned a few things from fellow beekeepers as well!
