July 2022 Recap

Hello Everyone!

Since our last blog post, there have been plenty of ups and downs in our bee yard and the world at large. 2020 saw some major equipment improvements for Luke’s Bees, including a permanent solar powered electric fencing instillation to mitigate the numerous bear attacks we suffered in 2019. Despite the ongoing pandemic that has thwarted the tabling event circuit we had been on, demand for our honey remains constant and we’ve had a productive year.

2021 was a historically wet year in the Northeast, which resulted in a lack of any honey crop whatsoever. Short of bear attacks, it was the most challenging year we’ve had thus far. For all the heartache the 2021 season brought, we enjoyed our most successful winter yet and entered 2022 with a large number of healthy hives. This allowed us to come roaring back and reestablish ourselves as a reliable honey producer in the Pioneer Valley. Thanks to several large harvests we had in the month of July, we were able to fill all outstanding orders and satisfy a staggering honey waitlist.

We are endlessly thankful to all of our customers who stuck by us through thick and thin and continue to support our business. Check out our video below!
